'Dualism' invites observers to engage with a recreated world that begins as a photograph and transitions into a symbolic display. It delves into the dualism between the captured image, representing FORM, and the light illuminating it, symbolizing TRUTH. These concepts draw directly from Plato's Allegory of the Cave, where FORM represents the ideal, and TRUTH is the enlightenment that reveals it. The shadow cast by the image, an imperfect reflection of the FORM, bridges the material world and the abstract. Upon entering the installation, visitors navigate these dual realms, mirroring the human journey of using reason to acquire knowledge and transcendence. The interplay of light, shadow, and form offers a contemplative experience, prompting reflections on the nature of perception and reality. Presented by TUB Gallery and hosted by the 1818 Meridian House hotel in Miami Beach, FL, in December 2014, this installation merges art and philosophy, inviting deep engagement and introspection.
